PRESENTATION:
Introduce new language, terms
Create a context in which students perceive the need for the language before it is presented
To make the input comprehensible
To direct the pupils` attention to the auditory and articulatory aspects in focus
EXTENSIVE EXPOSURE:
To expose the learners to the new language in different contexts and
activities.
To get the learners used to the oral form of the new language.
Recommendation: implement comprehension activities of the new language
and expose learners to new language for a relatively long period of time.
CONTROLLED AND GUIDED PRACTICE:
Shape the language produced by the pupil so that it conforms to the
model provided by the teacher,
This part of the instructional cycle ends when almost all the students are able to produce the target structure or vocabulary without prompting.
PRODUCTION:
Development of automatised and communicative language use (FLUENCY)
TEACHER HAS TO MONITOR THE LEARNER`S PERFORMANCE AND CHECK THAT
COMMUNICATION IS TAKING PLACE.
